Peony love

Tis the season and I’m a peony girl.

There’s a very small window to enjoy these spring beauties. That’s why when May arrives, I love to buy these gorgeous flowers, preferably the pale pink variety. They brighten up my writing space and I love watching them transform from tight bud layered with intricate petals to magnificent full bloom.

Sometimes peonies can be a little shy and take their time opening up—if at all. But when they do, oh it is so worth the wait. These flowers are in abundance well into June and then….it is over.

Peonies are also known as ‘Spring roses.’ Though personally, I find them more alluring than the ubiquitous rose.

I can attest that my soul is being restored while I enjoy their quiet, graceful presence.
