Pretty in pink
Well, its official! I’ve finally come out of hibernation having spent the best part of winter hunkering down and finalising my manuscript. And now, after endless drafts, painstaking edits, reading and re-reading, I’m ready to share it with the world…or at least a handful of selected agents. Am I nervous? Apprehensive? Of course!
Still, it helps that the weather has turned a corner, the blossoms are out (I can’t get enough of those fluffy pink beauties) the sun is shining and the rain—well, actually there’s still rain, but it wouldn’t be April without showers, would it?
The manuscript process requires research, patience, and attention to detail. This is not something to be skimmed over and rushed. If you’ve spent a significant amount of time writing your novel, you need to put a reasonable amount of time aside to ensure your query letter is as good as it can be.
Once you’ve hit the “send” button, there’s no going back. You only get one chance at making a good (no, let’s make that great!) impression. And so begins the waiting game.
In the meantime, I’m going to make myself a pot of coffee, grab my notebook and start plotting my next novel, while spring gently unfolds in all it's blossoming glory…
