Beautiful surroundings (for a little inspiration…)
I came across this charming cafe, which doubles up as a florist, on a recent trip to Berlin. The fresh berry tea was sublime and I wondered, in the absence of of broom sticks and spells, why it is called the ‘Witch Garden.’ I think it should be renamed the ‘Secret Garden’ because it truly is a hidden gem. Not only was it a peaceful place to write, the various assortment of flowers, plants, paintings and elegant furnishings created the perfect setting to be inspired.
Taking in my surroundings, it felt like I had been transported to someone’s rather cosy and very tasteful living room, and a sanctuary to the hustle and bustle outside. I will definitely be returning.
Flowers, art and fresh berry tea aside, as long as I am able to face a window when I write so I can intermittently watch the world go by, then I’m happy. Whether the view from the window is an urban backdrop, the sea or a rustic and rural setting, it doesn’t matter. I like to observe (people, animals, the clouds in the sky…), let my mind wander and then I wait for my imagination to be lit.
Throw in some caffeine and I’m good to go. Happy writing!
